Cooking Terms Dictionary

As a beginner trying to make the famous restaurant recipes from the cookbooks, I soon found out that I lacked any cooking experience that other people might take for granted. While looking through the recipes, I quickly discovered that I wasn't familiar with the terms like glazing, deglazing, and cooking the pasta al dente.

I searched the internet for each term as I encountered them and decided it would make more sense to just collect all these cooking terms in one place. So I created the Cooking Terms Dictionary, which lists the various terms and their definitions.

As time goes on, I am planning to also create individual posts for each of these cooking terms and have a link coming from the dictionary to them. These posts will include details on how to actually do the tasks, and not just have a definition.

For instance, when the recipe calls for first cooking the pasta al dente, you can look up the term to see a definition, then a link will go to the actual post that describes in detail how to do that. For more complicated processes, there may even be videos included.

So checkout the cooking terms dictionary and use it as you need to whenever you find a term in a recipe you are not familiar with. Happy cooking!
